Audio designer. Author. Lifelong student.
Paul McGowan
More than half a century spent pursuing one stubborn goal: removing the barriers between the listener and the musical performance.

A pioneer who never stopped asking, “Could this be better?”
Paul McGowan cofounded PS Audio in 1974 and has remained at the forefront of high-end audio ever since. He and his teams have designed hundreds of products—from phono preamplifiers and power regenerators to digital-to-analog converters, amplifiers and loudspeakers.
An inductee into the Audio Hall of Fame, Paul is also a recording producer, inventor, novelist and educator. His daily videos have helped hundreds of thousands of music lovers understand complicated audio ideas in approachable, useful terms.
The Audiophile's Guide series is the distillation of those five decades: lessons learned in laboratories, recording studios, listening rooms, customer systems and countless hours spent listening for the moment when a stereo stops sounding like a stereo.
